It’s Wednesday of Challenge Poverty Week and we have two blogs on the theme of Adequate Incomes. The first one is from Kate Kelman of Capital City Partnership. In her blog, she talks about people in-work poverty due to the soaring cost of living. How do we disrupt the narrative that people can escape poverty simply with a bit of effort? It’s not that simple.
Capital City Partnership supports people to move into work, and into good jobs. They work with employers and services to identify their needs and requirements, again promoting the principles of good work. They work to join the dots on opportunities and challenges. One successful example of this is the Vocational Training Framework (VTF) programme that they run, which creates courses to give people the knowledge and skills they need for specific roles required by employers. Read Kate’s blog here. It outlines Shalina’s story. And find out more about the current role they are recruiting for to support the strategic direction of their welfare advice services in Edinburgh.
