Today, the final day of Challenge Poverty Week, concentrates on food. Brenda Black, CEO of Edinburgh Community Food writes about ‘Menu For All’, which combines food and support access so Edinburgh can respond to need and coordinate capacity across the city, whilst providing accessible and reliable services in times of crisis. She talks about the Cash-First strategy, which aims to stop a reliance on food banks by giving people the means to purchase their own food, restoring their dignity and their choice. She also touches on the pioneering ‘Scottish Child Payment’ and ‘Best Start Foods’ prepaid card and our commitment to becoming a Good Food Nation by 2024.
